Astrology Note: New Moon
Tonite's New Moon is a trigger for a lot of things.

Tonite's New Moon is located in Scorpio - as I stated in my monthly note. What I didn't talk about was something I was looking into a little deeper.

The reason that the New Moon is triggering Mars is because the New Moon is in a Grand Water Trine with Mars (as it slows to go retrograde) and with Uranus (which is retrograde, and will be slowing to station direct -- actually going direct on November 24). Grand Water Trines encourage emotional healing - but what few astrologers seem to remind their clients is that in order to heal an emotional wound, there has to come the healing crisis. Lancing a wound is not a painless event -- nor is popping a zit; and that is basically what is going on. (OK, come on, now quit being grossed out and let's move forward).

Cancer, Pisces and Scorpio all move about in that murky darkness of the subconscious. It pulls things up, and drags things down to the depths. But in order for us to heal those wounds we have to face those pieces of ourselves. This is a good time to do that work. Use this lunation (from now until the next New Moon in early December) to work on those emotional wounds. Mars will help you focus on it, and Uranus will act like the Tower card (in tarot) and help make major changes at important times.

The other aspect that happened this evening is that the New Moon also squares Neptune in Aquarius. Neptune is our dreams, our illusions -- and the Moon is our emotions. With the Sun and Moon married this evening, our ego is supporting our emotional state, and it is being challenged by our dreams. Give it some time, don't try so hard -- the truth will be revealed. You may be too close to your situation to see things clearly. Give it at least until the Full Moon on November 24.

Uranus is also in a long term relationship with Saturn (Uranus is opposed to Saturn, and will be off and on for the next few years). There are a lot of major aspects coming up over the next few years, guys. I'm not going to play any "death knells" for the world - - or play any conspiracy theories. But there are going to be some major changes coming up. Uranus as the rebel, and Saturn as the autocrat are already diametrically opposed in personality -- when the planets themselves are in opposition, things change.

The opposition doesn't come "true" -- or purely 0 degrees - until Election day next year.

This is an opposition that happens approximately every 46 years. Similar oppositions happened in the early 1960's (1961-62), in the mid teens (1915-1916), in the 1870s, and in the early 1820s. Revolutions and major changes happened during each of these times. I don't know what is coming for us -- but perhaps we can look to the signs (Uranus in Pisces and Saturn in Virgo) for some help. Pisces encourages escapist tendencies, and lives in dreams. Uranus hanging out in that particular sign speaks to me of idealistic rebels -- perhaps students, like the riots in the 60s, or the student riots in Paris before the French Revolution. Virgo is very precise, very detail oriented -- very structured. That speaks to me of an extremely restrictive regime, something right out of Orwell's 1984. But -- frankly -- we are the ones who can make a difference. We can choose how these energies can be used. We are not "fated" to be a certain way. We can choose how to react.
